Hi. I'm Alister Collins.
I am a graduate of Mount Saint Mary College with a B.A. in Mathematics and minors in Biology and Chemistry. My strong scientific background allows me to use math to investigate scientific data and create models for future usage. I've used mathematics to investigate things from heat output from wood-burning stoves to mouse immune systems to nervous-system development in zebrafish.
Math is the tool that we use to model and create the things that underlie the very fabric of our modern world. Without our knowledge of mathematics, you would not be reading these very words: mathematics and computing are deeply interlinked. Without our knowledge of mathematics, the world would be a very different place, bereft of much of the modern technology we use every day. |
